19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.
The player's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to force a final set.
Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
